Ingredients

  • 2 plain bagels halved
  • 5 tbsp butter divided
  • 1 small yellow onion peeled & thinly sliced
  • 4 large eggs beaten
  • 1 tbsp cream
  • 2 Steak-eze sirloin beef steak
  • 1 tsp Montreal steak seasoning
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 slices American cheese

Instructions

  • Lightly toast the bagels, then spread each half with 1/2 tablespoon of butter. Add a slice of cheese to both bottom halves. Set aside.
  • Add one tablespoon of butter to a medium sized skillet set over medium heat. Once melted, add the onions to the skillet tossing them to coat. Sautee, stirring occasionally, until the onions have softened and begun to brown. Transfer onions to a waiting plate.
  • Set the skillet back over medium heat, and another tablespoon of butter to it. While the butter melts, add the cream to the eggs and whisk together just until combined.
  • Pour the eggs into the skillet, and cook stirring often just until scrambled and cooked through but not dry. Separate the eggs into two piles, transfer them to the cheese topped bagel bottoms.
  • Add the remaining tablespoon of butter to the skillet to melt. Add the steaks to the skillet, then sprinkle them evenly with the seasoning and Worcestershire sauce. Cook the steaks, flipping as needed but trying to keep them mostly together, just until cooked through.
  • Carefully transfer the hot steaks to sit on top of the eggs. Then top each steak with half of the onions.
  • Place the tops on the bagel sandwiches, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Once you add the butter to the skillet, you'll need to work quickly- if you wait too long it will go from melted to burnt.
  • While adding the cream to the eggs isn't 100% necessary, I highly recommend it. Mixing a little cream into them yields the fluffiest scrambled eggs, which McDonald's is also known for having.
  • This breakfast sandwich recipe can easily be doubled or tripled to feed a family.
  • Taking your breakfast bagel sandwiches to go? Wrap them in parchment paper. It will help keep them warm, while also catching any juices making it easy to eat and enjoy (without making a mess!) while in a hurry.
