Ingredients

  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • 1 large bunch cilantro just the leaves, stems discarded, and washed
  • 2 large jalapenos seeded & diced
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 3 limes juiced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • pinch sugar optional

Instructions

  • Add the sour cream to a disposable 9x13" foil pan, and spread it out into an even layer.
  • Smoke the sour cream at 180° for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the sour cream from the smoker and let it cool to room temperature.
  • Add the smoked cream and all the remaining ingredients to a blender. Blend until smooth.
  • Serve as is, or refrigerate until chilled.

Notes

  • Want it spicier? Double the jalapenos or add in a pinch of cayenne pepper to the mix.
  • Make sure you rinse the cilantro well before using it. Sometimes cilantro has a gritty sand on it.
  • This is a recipe where you really need to use fresh garlic and lime juice instead of garlic powder and bottled lime juice.
