- 3 1/2 - 4 cups washed, hulled, & diced strawberries
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp lemon juice fresh preferred, but not required
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract optional
Add all of the ingredients to a large, flat skillet. Stir them together to evenly combine.
Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat, then immediately reduce the heat to low- whisking the mixture well- this will prevent burning.
Allow the mixture to simmer for 15 minutes, or until the volume is reduced by half.
Remove the skillet from heat, and allow the sauce to rest. It will continue to thicken as it cools.
Serve or store, and enjoy!
- Prefer a thicker or thinner sauce? Cut the berries larger or smaller depending on your preference.
- This recipe makes roughly 1 pint (2 cups) of sauce, but can easily be doubled or tripled.
- Don't have enough strawberries or they're out of season? You can sub raspberries or blackberries, or add in a combination.
