20 Minute Chinese Pork Meatballs

Ingredients

For The Meatballs

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
  • 2 pinches ground pepper
  • 1/4 cup peanut oil

For The Sauce

  • 6 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon chili oil
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • Green onions or chives for garnish

Instructions

To Make The Meatballs

  • In a large bowl, combine the pork, cornstarch, ginger,garlic, brown sugar, soy sauce, five-spice powder, and pepper, and mix well. Roll the pork mixture into tablespoon sized meatballs. In a skillet heat the peanut oil over medium heat. Cook the meatballs in batches for about 4-6 minutes, flipping every 2 minutes.

To Make The Sauce

  • Combine all ingredients except garnish in a small mixing bowl and stir to mix well. Pour the mixture into the skillet with the meatballs, stirring until sauce slightly thickens. Remove from heat and garnish as desired.
